Manville residents will have a chance for a sweet treat and Manville police will get a sweet break from patrolling the streets Tuesday night, when members of the force trade their uniforms and radios for ice cream cones and soft-serve as part of Citizen Appreciation Day at LJ’z Boardwalk Ice Cream.
The event will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday at LJ’z Boardwalk Ice Cream on the corner of South Main Street and South Fifth Avenue.
Manville residents will receive a free regular-sized soft-serve ice cream cone from the Policeman’s Benevolent Association.
”The event is being held to thank all Manville resident for their continued support of the Manville PBA,” said PBA president Craig Jeremiah.
During the event, Manville residents come out for a free cone, and to see the officers serving cones said LJ’z owner Joan Buda. The event started in 2003, and has always been held at LJ’z.
”I think it just shows a good support,” said Ms. Buda. “If people support the PBA, the PBA will do what they can for the area and surrounding neighborhoods.”
