Howard C. Beresford
Mr. Beresford, 66, of Millstone Township, died Sept. 26, 2007, at home. Born in Newark, he had lived in Belleville, Clifton, the Morganville section of Marlboro, Old Bridge and Middletown before moving to Millstone Township in 1996. He was the founder and operator of Clearwater Technology Inc., Newark. Prior to that, he was the founder of Viking Representatives Inc. and Satellite Sales Inc., both of Newark. Mr. Beresford was a U.S. Marine veteran who served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Surviving are his wife of 18 years, Diane Beresford; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Patti Beresford of Mullica Hill, Gloucester County; two daughters and a son-in-law, Marie Beresford-Schuldt and Michael Schuldt of Narberth, Pa., and Celia Beresford of Tempe, Ariz.; a brother and sister-in-law, Jon and Beverly Beresford of Red Bank; five grandchildren, Matthew, Carmen, Ella, Henry and Eve; and a nephew and his wife, John and Amy Beresford (and daughter Ashley) of the Lincroft section of Middletown. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Perrineville section of Millstone, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. Anthony Luongo
Mr. Luongo, 82, of Freehold Township, died Sept. 29, 2007, at home. Born in Orange, he had resided in Freehold Township for the past 37 years. Mr. Luongo received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers College, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, and a law degree from Harvard Law School, Cambridge, Mass. He was a trial lawyer for 40 years, initially in private practice in Elizabeth. He served as an assistant prosecutor in charge of the Union County Grand Jury and for many years was a senior lawyer for the St. Paul Insurance Co. in New Jersey. While in private practice, he worked with the late Arthur Sills, former New Jersey attorney general, and also was in partnership with the late Alan Karcher, former leader of the New Jersey Assembly. Mr. Luongo served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion. In addition, he founded a chapter of the Lions Club in Elizabeth. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Mary Marlene Luongo; two sons, David Luongo of Freehold and Michael Luongo of Manhattan, N.Y.; three daughters, Esther Luongo Psarakis and husband Takis of Bridgewater, and Claudia Luongo and Julia Luongo McArdle and husband James, all of Roosevelt; a brother, Michael Luongo of Riverside, Calif.; a sister, Johanna LaVia of Canton, Conn.; two grandchildren; and a niece and two nephews. Walter S. Styczynski
Mr. Styczynski, 88, of Marlboro, died Sept. 13, 2007, at home. He was born in Adams, Mass., and had lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Marlboro 20 years ago. Prior to retiring in 1983, he was a maintenance supervisor for Con Edison, Manhattan, N.Y., for 35 years. Mr. Styczynski served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a communicant of St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church, Marlboro. He was predeceased by his wife, Loretta, in 2005. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Walter and Diane Styczynski of Freehold, and Roger and Marianne Styczynski of Hazlet; a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Robert Siniscalchi of Manalapan; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Gabriel’s Main Church, Marlboro, followed by entombment at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge. Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.
