One of the most treasured facilities in Monroe is the senior center. It is well-run and the wealth of programs and activities is outstanding.
But, most of all, the schedule of trips is extensive. Whereas many towns offer their seniors a trip every week or so, in Monroe there is a trip almost every single week day. This summer, there were trips to museums, music performances, shopping destinations and baseball parks, not to mention a variety of boat rides. The costs are always reasonable, and it is obvious that a great deal of planning goes into these trips so that every interest is matched with an appropriate activity.
It is important to acknowledge all the people who make the Monroe Senior Center such a success, the director, Bonnie Leibowitz and her staff as well as the Friends of the Senior Center and the Commission on Aging.
And kudos to Mayor Richard Pucci and the Monroe Township Council for its continued support of the center and the upcoming expansion of the facility and the programs. No wonder Monroe is such a great place to live.
