How ironic that in the same edition of your newspaper where Executive Editor Gregory Bean writes of politicians abusing the letters to the editor section you continued your policy of printing letters without full disclosure from the author.
On Oct. 3 you printed letters from both Steven Glickman and Howard Tilis. One letter was in support of Marlboro Democrat mayoral candidate Jon Hornik and the other slammed Republican Mayor Robert Kleinberg.
You (or the writers of the letters) conveniently left out the fact that Glickman was the Democrats’ candidate for mayor in 2003 who lost the election to Kleinberg, and that Tilis was one of the Democratic candidates for Township Council in 2005.
These are not just two run-of-the-mill citizens with no ax to grind against Republicans or Kleinberg.
This is not the first time this has happened in your newspaper. In fact you had previously run a letter from Steve Sukel without disclosing that he is the chairman of the Marlboro Democrats. I even had email communication at the time with Managing Editor Mark Rosman where he had acknowledged disclosure on such letters was necessary.
Why is the News Transcript not following through on this policy one month before the election?
I am a commissioner on the Marlboro Township Municipal Utilities Authority who was appointed by a Republican-controlled Township Council.
