It’s amazing how politicians think that taxpayers are stupid. Abraham Lincoln once said, “You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.” Time has come for state Sen. Ellen Karcher to come clean with the taxpayers. While she is telling us how concerned she is about our health and the fat content in goose liver, she has been living off the fat of the land.
While our property taxes have been rising higher and higher, Ms. Karcher’s 7.24-acre “farm” has been paying next to nothing for property taxes. She sells six to 12 trees a year, calls it a working farm and pays $218.47 in property taxes. How much would that cost the common people? We would pay almost $15,000 a year for the same property. That means she saved almost $250,000 in the last 16 years. I guess what’s good for the goose is not good for the gander.
