County will offer flu, pneumonia immunizations

The Middlesex County Public Health Department recently released the following 2007-08 influenza- and pneumococcalimmunization clinic schedule:

Oct. 29 – Cranbury Methodist Church, 21 North Main St., 10 a.m. to noon;

Oct. 29 – Plainsboro Municipal Building, community room, 641 Plainsboro Road, 1:30-3:30 p.m.;

Nov. 2 – Sayreville Senior Center, 423 Main St., 10 a.m. to noon;

Nov. 5 – New Brunswick Senior Resource Center, 81 Huntington St., 10 a.m. to noon;

Nov. 9 – Monroe Township Senior Center, 1 Municipal Plaza, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.;

Nov. 14 – Carteret Office on Aging, 100 Cooke Ave., 1-2:30 p.m.;

Nov. 15 – North Brunswick Senior Center, 15 Linwood Place, 10 a.m. to noon;

Nov. 16 – South Plainfield Office on Aging, 90 Maple Ave., 10 a.m. to noon;

Nov. 19 – Perth Amboy Community Center, 1 Olive St., 10 a.m. to noon;

Nov. 26 – South River Knights of Columbus, 88 Jackson St., 10 a.m. to noon;

Nov. 29 – Spotswood Office on Aging, 1 Arlington Ave., 10 a.m. to noon.

Medicare will be billed for influenza and pneumococcal immunizations. Residents without Medicare coverage will not be charged for the shots. Proof of age and residency are required, and no one under 18 years of age will be vaccinated.

Pneumococcal immunizations also will be available, by appointment only, to county residents who are 65 years of age and older and who have not previously received the vaccine. Medicare will be billed where applicable. Proof of age is required. For a pneumococcal-vaccine appointment, call (732) 745-3100, Mondays-Fridays, 2- 4 p.m. .
