Ethel Tonne
WASHINGTON Ethel H. Tonne died Sunday at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis. She was 82.
Born in Trenton, daughter of the late Michael and Anna Scerba Ferko, she was a lifelong area resident.
Ms. Tonne retired from the State of New Jersey, Department of Education in 1985.
She enjoyed tending her flowers and plants, going to lunch with her friends, and traveling with her husband. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family at her home on Long Beach Island.
Wife of the late John C. Tonne, she is survived by her daughter, Beverly Ashworth of Robbinsville; her granddaughter, Jennifer and her husband Brian Mullen of Pemberton; her grandson, Sean Ashworth of Hamilton; her brother, Michael Ferko of Hamilton; and three great-grandchildren, Ian, Aidan and Cailin Mullen.
Ms. Tonne is also survived by many aunts and uncles, including a special aunt, Bert Stevulak of Hamilton, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Connie and Dan Esposito of Groveville; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Betty Lou Tonne of Florida; and a “second daughter,” Kathleen Wereski of Robbinsville.
The funeral is 11 a.m. today (Thursday) at Kutch Funeral Home, 215 Grand St., Trenton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 555 Yardville-Allentown Road, in Yardville.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Cemetery No. 2, Hamilton.
