Afew weeks ago I responded to a letter that implied Iraq was responsible for 9/11 and thus justified an unnecessary, draining and wasteful war.
A response to my letter went on about the writer’s family military history. He should certainly be proud of both his uncle and his daughter, and as a citizen and a veteran I salute them both.
The core of my letter was the fact that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Whether the so-called freedom of Iraq is worth the price ordinary Iraqis are paying on a daily basis is open to debate.
The people who are suffering mightily that concern me are our own troops. I don’t think that Iraq was worth one American life, let alone the 3,829 dead and 28,171 wounded as of Oct.14.
