Anne Lyon of Bordentown City
To the editor: “Bordentown is a nice town,” said the man as he passed me in the early morning darkness. Coincidentally, as I walked I was musing about what Bordentown needs to continue to be a “nice” town.
The city has a great location, diversity of housing and people, a solid school system, interesting shops and restaurants, and lots of activities and events. The invisible glue that holds this all together is volunteers, and we need new ones. The current stock is stretched thin and aging, myself included.
Sure, we have Mike Hunninghake, Heather Cheesman, Terry Johnson, and the Pechts, to name only a few of those I know, but more of the newer and younger residents who move here are needed to come forward and get involved. It may be difficult to commit while raising your family and working, but so it has been for those who are already serving. “Many hands make work light.” To continue thriving, Bordentown needs more hands.
