Basket bingo
   Friday, Nov. 2 — The Wrightstown Rotary Club will sponsor a basket bingo with Longaberger baskets as prizes in the auditorium of Northern Burlington High School. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and bingo will start at 7 p.m. The cost is $20.

Shrimp night
   Friday, Nov. 2 — The Willitts-Hogan-Tonne American Legion Post in Roebling will hold their monthly shrimp dinner at 5 p.m. until sold out. The cost of a platter is $10 and will consist of 15 large shrimp, homemade potato salad, homemade coleslaw and dessert, with coffee or tea. Meatball sandwiches with the same side dishes will also be available for $7.

Cake sale
   Saturday, Nov. 3 — The Florence Township Chapter of Deborah will hold a cake sale at 9 a.m. at the Roebling Towne Market. All members and friends are invited to bake cakes. Cakes can be dropped off at the market on Saturday, Nov. 3.

Nature trail building day
   Saturday, Nov. 3 — Help create the first nature trail in Bordentown City. Bring gloves, rakes, pruning shears and hedge clippers. Anyone wishing to participate in the Thorntown Creek Trail building day should meet at the trailhead on Elizabeth Street, between the Ocean Spray driveway and Lafayette Street, at 9 a.m. The Bordentown City Environmental Commission is sponsoring this event.

Basket bingo
   Saturday, Nov. 3 — The Jacobstown Volunteer Fire Co. Auxilary Inc. will host its 4the annual Basket Bingo at the Jacobstown Fire House on Route 528 in Jacobstown. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and bingo will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $20. Proceeds will benefit the Jacobstown Volunteer Fire Co. and the community.

Gospel extravaganza
   Saturday, Nov. 3 — The Shiloh Baptist Church in Bordentown City will present a gospel extravaganza at 7 p.m. Mother Sylvia Wright, of Burlington, is sponsoring this event featuring local talents of the community. The special guest will be Ms. Carol Clark of the World Harvest Christian Center in Pennsauken. Light refreshments will follow the program.
Social Dance
   Sunday, Nov. 4 — The Widows and Widowers of Burlington County will host a social dance from 7 to 10:30 p.m. at the Korean Presbyterian Church, 147 Route 130 North, Bordentown. Refreshments will be served at the event. Admission costs $7 for members and $10 for guests.
   The club, for persons who have suffered the loss of a marriage partner by death, holds monthly activities on the first Sunday of every month.

Art exhibit and talk

   Sunday, Nov. 4 — The Knights of Columbus No. 570 will sponsor a four-hour trip to the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City. The bus will depart at 4:30 p.m. from St. Mary’s Church parking lot on Elizabeth Street in Bordentown. The cost is $20 and each attendee will receive $20 in cash.

Veterans Day ceremony
   The Bordentown Township Committee will have its annual Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. on Nov. 10 at the Senior Community Center, 3 Municipal Dr. The conclusion will be held at the Veterans Monument followed by a light luncheon indoors.
Veterans Day lucheon
   Saturday, Nov. 10 — The Mansfield Township Historical Society will sponsor a Veterans Day luncheon at 11 a.m. at the Garden State Diner, Route 527 and Route 545, Wrightstown. Anthony Galli will be the guest speaker. The cost is $17. There will be a choice of four entrees. This event is open to the public.

Annual Christmas bazaar
   Friday, Nov. 16, and Saturday, Nov. 17 — Trinity United Methodist Church in Bordentown will hold their annual Christmas bazaar on from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. They will also hold a soup and sandwich luncheon on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and there will be a snack bar on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Trinity’s Treasures will not be open Friday or Saturday.
   A ham dinner will also be held on Saturday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tickets cost $12 for adults, $6 for children 5 to 12, and children 5 and under are free. Take-out orders cost $13.

Hoagie and meatball sandwich sale
   Friday, Nov. 16, and Saturday, Nov. 17 — The Florence Township Volunteer Fire Company #1, 401 Firehouse Lane, will hold a hoagie and meatball sandwich sale from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. until sold out on Saturday. Italian, American and tuna hoagies will be available. The cost for a sandwich is $5, which also includes a can of soda and a bag of chips.

Holiday gift shopping
   Saturday, Nov. 17 — The Lend-a-Hand Society will hold its Fall Festival at First Baptist Church of Bordentown, on the corner of Prince and Church Streets, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be crafts, toys, games, stocking stuffers and baked goods. All items are new and free gift-wrapping will be available. While shopping, you can also enjoy homemade soup, sandwiches, hot dogs and homemade desserts for lunch, which starts at 11:30 a.m. Attendees are asked to use the side entrance on Church Street.
Dinner and dance
   Saturday, Nov. 17 — Holy Assumption will host a “fall harvest dinner dance” from 6 to 10 p.m. The cost is $22 per person and includes dinner, dancing and door prizes.

Class of 1997 reunion
   Saturday, Nov. 17 — The Bordentown Regional High School class of 1997 will hold its 10-year reunion at the Bordentown Elks Lodge from 7 to 11 p.m. The cost is $30 per person.

Craft show and bake sale
   Saturday, Nov. 17 — The Friends of Mary’s School will sponsor a holiday craft show and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m at St. Mary’s School, 30 Elizabeth St., Bordentown. There will be basket and vacation raffles. Proceeds will benefit St. Mary’s School. The cost is $20 to reserve a table.

Holiday house tour
   Saturday, Dec. 8 — The Bordentown Historical Society will host its holiday house tour from 3 to 8 p.m. This year, an extra hour has been added to the tour. Featured homes range from mid-18th to 20th century and most owners are decorating with a theme expressing family traditions or the historic period of their home. Tickets can be bought at App’s Hardware, Shoppe 202, and Silk and Tweed. The cost is $25.

Parents Anonymous
   Tuesdays — Parents Anonymous meets every Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Family Support Organization of Burlington County, 774 Eayrestown Road, Lumberton. The group aims to help parents cope with stress and learn alternative methods of discipline. It is led by volunteer professionals and parent leaders from the community.

   Fridays — Nicotine Anonymous meetings are held Fridays at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton in the second floor library from 7 to 8 p.m. The hospital is located on Hamilton Square Road in Hamilton.
   The meeting is open to anyone who has the desire to stop using nicotine. You need not have quit to attend. There are no dues or fees.

Grant and loan program
   The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection currently has a Petroleum Underground Storage Tank Remediation, Upgrade & Closure Fund (UST Fund) grant and loan program available to both homeowners and commercial property owners for funding remediation of contamination caused by leaking underground storage tanks.
   Recent legislative changes have added a non-leaking tank component to the UST Fund, which awards grants for the proactive removal and replacement of homeowner heating oil tanks.    A women’s support group and stress management support group, both led by experienced, licensed mental health professionals, are now forming.

Training group
   Interested in participating in group runs throughout beautiful northern Burlington County? A training group is now forming for various fall races. Whether you’re a beginner, building a base for any of the numerous fall marathons, preparing for a race of shorter distance, or just want some company in your quest for fitness, join the group on Saturday and Sunday mornings as they explore the roads of Mansfield, Springfield, Chesterfield and any other fields they can find. Distances will vary, and all paces will be accommodated.

Cat volunteers needed
   Bordentown City Cats, a cat rescue group in Bordentown, is looking for volunteers to feed, trap, provide transportation to and from vet appointments, or be available once a month for cleanup at the adoption center at an area PetSmart store.
   In addition, the group is looking for caring people to foster friendly cats and kittens until they are ready to be put up for adoption.
   If you are unable to provide direct animal care, people with expertise in fundraising and grant writing are welcome to inquire. For information, call 609-324-3896.
Volunteers needed
   The Mansfield Township Police Department is currently recruiting volunteers for a domestic violence response team. The team members will work in conjunction with the police to provide support, information and referral at the time of a domestic violence crisis.
   Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, have access to transportation, possess a valid driver’s license, be willing to serve a minimum of four 12-hour shifts per month, and submit to background investigations, including fingerprinting. A 40-hour mandatory intensive training course, to be held over an eight-week period during evening and weekend hours is required and will be provided to successful applicants. An understanding of domestic violence issues is a plus, as is a bilingual capacity.

Volunteers needed
   Volunteers are needed to join the River’s Edge Domestic Violence Response Team. Participants will be called or paged by police to speak with a victim of domestic violence and provide them with options. Volunteers will receive 40 hours of initial training provided by Providence House of Burlington County.
   Volunteers must be 18 years or older and a resident of Florence, Burlington Township or Burlington City, and must have a valid N.J. drivers license, available transportation and no criminal history. They must be available for a minimum of two 12-hour shifts per month.
   Anyone interested can pick up an application at the Florence Township Police Station, Burlington Township Police Station or Burlington City Police Station, or contact Patrolman Brian Boldizar at 609-499-3131.
WIC program
   The Bordentown County WIC (Women, Infants, Children) Program currently has a clinic in the Shiloh Baptist Church, Bordentown.
   The WIC is a federally funded supplemental nutrition program for pregnant and breastfeeding women, infants, and children under 5 years old. Eligibility for the program is based on income and nutritional and/or medical risk.
