Biographical information given
On Tuesday, Hopewell Borough voters will pick a mayor for four years and two Borough Council members for three years. All candidates are running unopposed.
Who are these candidates? Their biographical information follows:
• For mayor, Paul Anzano (Democrat) — Mr. Anzano has been a Borough Council member since 2005 and a practicing attorney since 1995. He is a partner with Pringle Quinn Anzano, managing the firm’s Trenton office. Through the 1980s and early 1990s, he served as a special deputy commissioner at the New Jersey Department of Insurance and as counsel to the state Senate. In his professional and charitable endeavors, he has served as the president of the Glen Afton Civic Association of Trenton; a Democratic County Committee member in Trenton’s West Ward and president of the Brain Injury Association of New Jersey. He is married to Christine O’Brien, with daughters Bridget and Maeve. They have resided on First Street since 2003.
For council:
• Sean Jackson (Democrat) grew up and lived in northern New Jersey. He and his wife found Hopewell Borough 12 years ago and “fell in love with this community.” They first lived on North Greenwood Avenue and now reside on South Lanning Avenue with their three children. He has a bachelor’s degree in history and politics from the University of Michigan (1988) and a law degree from Rutgers-Newark School of Law (1994). He works as a business consultant and develops real estate with offices located in Lambertville. Previously, he served as the state director for U.S. Sen. Robert Torricelli and before that practiced law and worked in state government. He has coached Little League, was a founding board member of the NJ Community Development Corp., and served as member of the County Democratic Committee.
• David Mackie (incumbent Democrat) was born in Princeton Borough. He and his wife, Mary Rabbitt, moved to Hopewell in 1991. He is a consulting geologist at AMEC Earth & Environmental, Inc. in Somerset. He earned a bachelor’s degree in geology from Rutgers University in 1987; a master’s degree in geology from the University of Connecticut in 1991, and a Master in Public Policy (MPP) degree from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University in 2002. He is seeking a fourth, three-year term on Hopewell Borough Council.
