For Republicans in Montgomery

John Warms of Montgomery Township Committee
Political flyers are always interesting, moreso when the writer manufactures truth and half truths. As you know, I am a Democrat and member of the Township Committee, and I find two recent Democratic releases to be an insult to the voters .
The concept of “The leadership team that has earned your trust” is amusing at best.
Mr. Joye is probably a very nice man but has not been part of the team. He has no experience in Montgomery polititics.
Brad Fay had nothing to do with either the Route 206 discussions or the negotiations for Skillman Village. What he did do was have the Landmarks Commission convince Wilson, Birge and Fay to save 20 buildings at the site without ever having a realistic viewpoint as to their developement potential. In reality most of them will have to be demolished at great expense.
The Route 206 problem was not solved by the team, the 1991 agreement and the tremendous cost were the factors in providing closure. Yes, Louise played a role, with Bob Kress and myself, in finalizing the issue.
The so-called team role in the acqusition of NPDC is non-existent. For 10 years each township commmittee attempted to reach accord with the state, as did Louise. It took a year for some of us to get her to convince the township to sue the state. Thereafter she and her high paid consulant tried unsuccessfully to negotiate a settlement. After that failure, her major contribution was to drive me crazy with stress-filled phone calls on detail issues once the basic agreement was reached . Claiming credit for that which they did not do does not merit trust.
Frank Drift has done as much for Montgomery as anyone. He started the travelling soccer program. The odeo has raised over $500,000 for various groups. He was a founder and owner of the Montgomery News in order to bring information to the people of Montgomery. He was founder of the Operation Friends program and he drove a truckload of boxes to Misssissippi. He contributed over $4,000 to that campaign and he has done a great deal to help folks without ever saying a word or trying to gain recognition for his deeds.
Kacey Dyer is a native. She went to school here. She is very bright and will bring fresh ideas to the table, which we sorely need. She cares about her town. Pat Graham is, as the Packet has pronounced, a perfect candidate.
I hope the voters of Montgomery will understand it is time for change. We do not need a political machine, we need people we can truly trust.
