Baroni defeats Singh for 14th District Assembly

SOUTH BRUNSWICK – Republican Assemblyman Bill Baroni defeated former state ratepayer advocate and political newcomer Seema Singh by a landslide margin in the 14th District Senate race.

“I will do my best to make New Jersey more affordable and less corrupt,” Baroni said.

Singh was disappointed, but knew it was only her first time running.

“It’s been an invaluable experience for me,” Singh said. “I’m not going anywhere. I’ll still be here.”

Baroni emphasized how important it was for Democrats and Republicans to work together.

“It will take all of us to face the fiscal crisis our town is facing,” Baroni said. “I love this town. I’ve learned my values here – to treat people fairly and equally and I’ve always been independent.”

Despite winning the race, Baroni isn’t done meeting the people.

“People asked me ‘are you going to keep knocking on doors,’” Baroni said. “If I haven’t been to you yet, I’m on my way.”

Singh congratulated Baroni despite previous claims that he was running a dirty campaign. Singh had been blasted in the media because she used a clerk to drive her to meetings when she was the ratepayer advocate.
