The chairman and board of commissioners of the Brick Township Municipal Utilities have considered requests by visitors to the Brick Reservoir to extend the hours for the fall season. The established hours for fall are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Effective immediately, modifications in employee work schedules will allow the facility to be open from 6:30 a.m. and remain open until 9 p.m. without an impact on the operating budget or creating overtime expenditure.
It is anticipated that this schedule can remain in effect until Dec. 15, at which time the reservoir will have a scheduled 6 p.m. closing for the winter months. However, there will be flexibility in the closing schedule based on weather conditions.
The Brick Reservoir opened to the public in May 2005 and has since become a major attraction for residents in the area and the surrounding communities. Its nearly twomile perimeter pathway provides a clean, safe and relaxing environment for visitors to walk and jog. The classic park setting features benches and lighting for those that want to sit and enjoy the view of the nearly 1 billion- gallon reservoir.
