John I. Lisowski

Mr. Lisowski, 70, of Freehold Township, died Oct. 28, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Jersey City, he had lived in Little Falls before moving to Freehold Township in 1977. Mr. Lisowski attended Seton Hall Preparatory School, West Orange, and he was the recipient of the 1954 Columbia Scholastic Press Association Award. He earned both a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Laws degree from Seton Hall University, South Orange. He was a partner with the law firm of Tompkins, McGuire, Wachenfeld & Barry, Newark. From 1964 to 1976, principally involved in the defense of medical malpractice cases. He was also an expert in the defense of product liability matters brought against many national and international companies. Mr. Lisowski was predeceased by a son, John Jr., in December 2006. Surviving are his wife, Joan B. Sherman- Lisowski; three sons and a daughter-in-law, James and Valerie Lisowski of Belle Mead, and David Andrew Lisowski and Jeremy Adam Lisowski, both of Freehold Township; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Daniel Muntone of Washington Township, and Ellen and Joseph Richter of California; a sister and brother-in-law, Janice and William Bornemann of Red Bank; seven grandchildren; and close friends Sonia and Milton Roth of Freehold. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, Freehold Township, followed by entombment at Marlboro Cemetery Mausoleum. The Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury, NJ 07702-4201.
