Republicans win in North Hanover

NORTH HANOVER — Incumbent Republican James Durr and Republican candidate Deborah Butler took both three-year Township Committee seats Tuesday night, receiving 610 votes and 594 votes, respectively.
Mr. Durr said Tuesday night that he was “pleased to see that the people in North Hanover had come out to support not only me but my fellow Republican running mate.”
Challengers Nancy Morrow, an incumbent Democrat, received 530 votes, and John Kocubinski, who was nominated by write-in in the primary, received 419 votes.
Mr. Kocubinski said Wednesday he was disappointed with voter turnout in the township.
”Just as I anticipated, we did not even in North Hanover make 30 percent of the registered voters, he added.
He also noted that a flier that he said was put out by the opponent was detrimental to his campaign.
”I personally put out a rebuttal flier, but the amount of ground to cover was a lot,” he noted.
On a personal level, Mr. Kocubinski noted that a health setback in June had prevented him from getting the momentum of his campaign going.
”This took away from my planning during the most critical time of the year, unfortunately,” he added.
