James L. Vandewater IV

   HAMILTON — James L. Vandewater IV, 21, died Saturday at Capital Health Systems at Fuld in Trenton.
   Born in Princeton, Mr. Vandewater was a lifelong area resident. He was a 2004 graduate of Steinert High School and played four years of varsity soccer for the Spartans. He also played traveling soccer for GAK of Hamilton.
   A student at Johnson and Wales in Providence, R.I., he received his associate degree in culinary arts in June 2006 and was working toward his bachelor’s degree, with a planned graduation in May 2008.
   His first culinary experience came from employment at Rats Restaurant in Hamilton, the summer after his freshman year.
   He just completed an internship at DANIEL, one of the finest restaurants in New York City.
   He was offered an externship at the world-renowned French Laundry restaurant in Napa Valley, Calif., starting in May 2008.
   He was employed during his school semesters at a local Providence, R.I. restaurant.
   Mr. Vandewater is survived by his parents, James L. Vandewater III of Hamilton and Victoria Tydryszewski Vandewater of East Windsor; maternal grandparents Andrew and Sarah Tydryszewski of Mercerville; paternal grandparents James and Elizabeth Vandewater of Summerfield, Fla.; great-aunts and great-uncles Margaret Brunn of Trenton, Bud and Terry Ownes of Flemington, Robert and Doris Galick of Princeton, Bruno and Maryann Tydryszewski of Hamilton, Joseph Tydryszewski of Hamilton, and Al and Laura Mollis of Ewing; aunts and uncles JoAnn and Douglas Phillips of Bordentown, Catherine Shepard of Pacific Palisades, Calif., and Kevin Vandewater of Hamilton; cousins Eliot and Jessica Shepard of Pacific Palisades; several cousins; and special family friend Wilfred Hitchman of East Windsor.
   The funeral service was held at the Hamilton Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, Hamilton. Entombment was in Princeton Memorial Park, Robbinsville.
