There are important changes to the way in which the district communicates its school closings, delayed openings and other inclement weather information.
Effective this winter, radio station Magic 98.3 FM (WMGQ) will no longer broadcast school closings or delayed opening announcements on air. Families interested in obtaining such information should turn to the following media outlets for information: radio stations WCTC (1450 AM) and WPST (94.5 FM) between 6 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.; Comcast Cable Channel 28 (Viking Television Network); Channel 4 (NBC); and Channel 7 (ABC).
The District will continue to utilize its Emergency E-mail Notification System and will also post an informational banner on the homepage of the district’s web site, www.sbschools.org.
The district soon will implement a new communication tool, the Automated Dialer System. In the case of emergency/inclement weather, the system will alert parents and families to changes in the regular school schedule via telephone in a matter of minutes.
Information was sent to all parents at the end of September. If you have not received notification about this new service, please contact your child’s school of attendance.
