Written towards the end of World War II by Jean Giraudoux and set in post-war Paris, the action takes place in a Parisian café and the cellar of the Countess Aurelia (the Madwoman of Chaillot, played by Katy White). A group of unscrupulous businessmen (The President – Boris Van Der Ree; the Baron – Tom Seabrook; the broker – Josh Max; and the Prospector – Ben Canuteson) plot to blow up a building in Paris in order to “convince” the city architect to allow them to drill for oil in Paris—for personal gain, for profit, and for war! The Madwoman overhears them plotting and decides to take matters into her own hands to stop them.
The Madwoman, with the help of her best friends—more “madwomen” from other parts of Paris (played by Kaitlyn Stein, Michele Seabrook, and Lily Martin)—a clever ragpicker (Sean Geraghty), the waitress (Irka Pearse-Drance), the café’s maitre’d (Lisa Colasanti), the Deaf-Mute (Kristen Kolombatovich), a street singer (Caitlin Sing), and the street-juggler (Jessye Bostwick), put the evildoers on trial and judgment is given.
Among the chaos, love blossoms between a young man (Sam LaPosta) who was ready to throw his life away in order to not have to carry out the evildoers’ terrible orders to blow up the building, and the young waitress.
Kathleen Reside, Jessica Krocker, Zack Kiss, Patrick Ludeke, Darcy Glenn, John Gangi, Ross Holley, Lexi DiGaetano, Ryan Butler, Elsa Van der Wal, Ashley Hogan and Jordan Schnoor round out the cast of 27.
