Joyce “Chip” Johansen

Ms. Johansen, 55, of Freehold Township, died Oct. 27, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Staten Island, N.Y., she had lived there for most of her life before moving to Freehold Township 27 years ago. She was a member of The Arc of Monmouth, Tinton Falls, and attended the group’s workshops. She enjoyed the Elks Club dances in Millstone and all her roommates at Valley House in the Clarksburg section of Millstone. Ms. Johansen was predeceased by her parents, Louise and Lawrence Johansen, as well as a sister, Mary Lou Cronin. Surviving are a brother, George Johansen of Peekskill, N.Y.; three sisters, Carol Meyler of Manalapan, Gail Lomma of Staten Island and Dawn Johansen of Parksley, Va.; and 11 grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Englishtown, followed by interment at Ocean View Cemetery, Staten Island, N.Y.
