Sam McLamore Jr.

Mr. McLamore, 65, of Colts Neck, died Oct. 24, 2007, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. He was born in Wegfield, S.C., to Ruth Washington McLamore and Sam Nathaniel McLamore on May 12, 1942. At age 16, he discovered a love of racehorses and was a horse trainer for most of his life. In later years he worked as a head tractor operator for A. Casola Farms, Holmdel. Mr. McLamore was predeceased by a daughter, Elizabeth. Surviving are his wife, Shirley Smith McLamore, whom he married in 1968; his companion, Doreen Dailey; three sons, Vernon, Samuel and Joseph McLamore; three daughters, Margaret, Theresa and Danielle; a son-in-law, James Clark; a sister, Mary J. McKither; a brother-inlaw, Leusester; five grandchildren; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Interment took place at Howard Chapel Cemetery, Timmonsville, S.C. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of local arrangements.
