COAH records require work

Mary Caffrey, Township Administrator of Robbinsville
To the editor:
Like other municipalities, Robbinsville has been working to comply with new record-keeping requirements put in place over the past year by the Council on Affordable Housing. This has required our staff to retrieve records that, for a variety of reasons, were never copied to the township by attorneys involved in the sales of affordable housing units over many years.
It’s a time-consuming task that could have been unpleasant but for the warm welcome and helpful assistance provided by the staff of Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami Covello. We contacted the County Clerk in advance of a series of visits; her staff was essential to completing this project, which required making hundreds of photocopies and building some files from scratch. Our staff was assigned a contact person, Marty Grimm, and assisted throughout by Kathy Garofalo, Susan Nomejko, and Tammy Barringer. Lisa Chiarella assisted with our account for photocopies.
Taxpayers hear plenty when public employees make mistakes or when funds are misspent. It’s important that they hear about County Clerk Paula Sollami Covello and her team when they do a great job.
