NEW HANOVER Results of the close race for one three-year seat on the Township Committee are scheduled to be posted on a county Web site today, Thursday, said county Clerk Philip Haines on Wednesday morning.
According to unofficial vote totals, which did not include provisional and absentee ballots, incumbent Republican Dennis Roohr received 165 votes and Democrat Sharon Atkinson received 161 votes.
According to the county, there are 10 absentee ballots that will be included in the final numbers.
Ms. Atkinson did not run in the June primaries, but she did elect to run after she received write-in votes.
She had said immediately after the election that the result compiling “wasn’t over yet,” although she said she was pleased at the high voter turnout. A total of 326 votes, or 52 percent, were cast in the township, where 621 residents are registered to vote, according to the county.
Neither Mr. Roohr or Ms. Atkinson could be reached for comment as of Wednesday afternoon.
Results will be available to view on the Burlington County Board of Elections Web site at http://www.co.burlington.nj.us/election07/general1106.htm.
Results also will be posted today, Thursday, when they are available.
