Show pays tribute to famous films

HOWELL – On Nov. 29-30 and Dec. 1, Howell High School will present a musical extravaganza “Hooray for Hollywood” in the school auditorium. Show time is 7 p.m. each evening. The performance will highlight some of the most famous movies of the past 50 years.

Musical selections featured in the show are from films such as “Hairspray,” “High School Musical 2,” “Shrek,” “Saturday Night Fever,” “That Thing You Do,” “Grease,” “Little Shop of Horrors,” “Evita,” “Austin Powers” and “Shark Tales.”

In addition to performances by students, members of the high school faculty will perform a dance number to the salsa beat of Buenos Aires from the movie “Evita.” Featured faculty dancers are Vice Principal Jeremy Braverman, Sandra Hempel, Bill Gallagher, Lorin Beuchler, Melanie Kramer, John Rizkallo, Howard Graham and choreographer Lisa Twamley.

According to a press release, seniors Kate Baldasare, Alex Daniello, Lauren Lavelle and Morgan Kelly, dance assistants to Twamley, have incorporated a variety of high energy choreographic moves into the show.

Regina McAllen is the vocal director.

Tickets may be purchased at the door for $10. Howell High School is on Squankum-Yellowbrook Road.
