WATCHUNG Sister Mary Gilbert Keegan, 85, died on Nov. 7 at McAuley Hall Health Care Center, Watchung.
Sister Gilbert was born in Trenton and entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1943. She received a B.S. in elementary education from Georgian Court College, Lakewood. Sister Gilbert taught Elementary Education at St. Mary School, Perth Amboy, St. Mary Academy, Lakewood, St. Matthew School, Edison and St. Mary schools in Bordentown and South Amboy. She also served in St. Charles Borromeo School, Cinnaminson and Saint Paul Convent, Princeton.
Sister Gilbert is survived by her nieces Eileen Peterson, Maureen Konzos and Patricia Walsh of Trenton, Margaret Lestician of New Egypt and Mary Tara Stevulak of California; her nephews David Peterson of Trenton, Francis Peterson and Edward Callahan of Bordentown; and her brother-in-law Joseph Peterson of Trenton.
A wake was held Saturday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at McAuley Hall Health Care Center in Watchung. Interment followed at Saint Mary Cemetery, Trenton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of Mercy, Mid Atlantic Community, Mount Saint Mary 1645, Highway 22, Watchung, NJ 07069. Arrangements were by the Higgins Home for Funerals, Watchung.
