Thanks to Scouts for food drive

As the holidays approach, it’s the time of year again for the local Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts to help out those less fortunate with their annual Thanksgiving food drive. This year was a huge success and it enables us to get a jump start on packing up our food boxes for families. Between the scouts and other helpers we had over 40 volunteers throughout the weekend of Nov. 3 and 4. Many of the Scouts stayed to help us sort the food and get it into the pantry as well. We want to thank all of the Scout leaders and parents who drove around South Brunswick to drop off and pick up all of the bags of food.
Many of the Scout leaders went above and beyond. I want to thank Wayne Menz, Frank Gramieri and Bob Spitz for all of their assistance and guidance. A special thank you goes out to Mr. Spitz for spending several hours at the Stop & Shop in Dayton, collecting food for us. And a special thank you to Frank Gramieri and Troop 888 for the ShopRite collection on Sunday, Nov. 11. If I forgot to mention anyone by name, forgive me, but you know that without your help the weekend would not have been as successful or run as smoothly as it did.
   Thank you.
We also want to thank both Bob Weber and Roy Skalko for coming in on both Saturday and Sunday to assist us with the food drive.
And finally, two special thank yous. One to the St. Cecilia’s Youth Group for making 147 pumpkin and cranberry breads to add to each basket for the holidays and the other to Debbie and Arthur Roedel for their generous contribution in Stop & Shop gift cards to enable us to give 50 families a card to purchase a turkey.
