Mrs. Stringer, 99, of Plainfield, died Nov. 1, 2007, at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center, Plainfield. She was born in Hardaway, Ala., and had resided in Englishtown for more than 20 years before settling in Freehold for many years and then moving to Plainfield several years ago. Prior to retiring in 1973, Mrs. Stringer was a charge attendant at Marlboro State Psychiatric Hospital for 26 years. She had previously been a defense worker. Mrs. Stringer was a member of the former Second Baptist Church of Freehold, which she joined in 1942. She had belonged to the church’s flower club and also served as a church kitchen aide. She was a former member of Damascus Baptist Church, Hardaway, where she was secretary of the Sunday school and sang in the church choir. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Stringer, in 2000, as well as two sons, Melvin Stringer in 1939 and Clinton Stringer in 1957. Surviving are two granddaughters, Jessie Mae Tucker of Freehold and Marlene Denise Andrews of Plainfield; five great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; a great-great-greatgrandchild; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at New Beginnings Agape Christian Center, Freehold, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
