FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – The Freehold Township Human Relations Council is accepting candidates for its Humanitarian of the Year award.
The organization will recognize a local high school student who demonstrates behaviors consistent with its mission, which is to foster and promote good will, cooperation and conciliation among all residents of Freehold Township.
A proclamation presented by the mayor and $1,000 sponsored by Professional Orthopaedic Associates will be presented to the successful candidate at the May 2008 Human Relations Council meeting.
The candidate must be a legal Freehold Township resident; be either a junior or senior in high school; have a transcript that proves he or she has a minimum grade-point average of 2.5; submit a brief, personal statement that reflects the council’s objectives; and have two letters of recommendation from a teacher, principal, community representative or clergy to support award criteria with activities that may include, but not be restricted to, school, community or religious projects.
Students must obtain an application form from their school’s guidance office or they can request one by writing to the Freehold Township Human Relations Council Awards Committee, Freehold Township Municipal Building, 1 Municipal Plaza, Freehold 07728. Applications and pertinent papers must be sent to the committee at the above address by March 15.
