Elbert W.G. Boogher

   Elbert W.G. Boogher, 87, died on Nov. 21 at the home of his daughter in Port Norris.
   Born in Ocean City, he was the youngest son of the late Elbert W.G. and Elizabeth Reynolds Boogher and the husband of the late Mae Alice Goodman Boogher.
   Mr. Boogher grew up in Merchantville and Ocean City and resided in Moorestown, Ewing Township and Pennington, before living with his daughter.
   A graduate of the Peddie School in Hightstown, Class of 1939, he attended the University of North Carolina.
   Mr. Boogher was a World War II Army veteran serving under Gen. George Patton in the CO A 1709th Signal Service Battalion. He was a cryptography technician and served in the Ardennes, Central Europe, Egypt, Libya, Naples, Foggia, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Sicily, and Tunisia campaigns. He was a member of the Society of the First Infantry Division.
   A New Jersey regional salesman for Curtis 1000 for 26 years in Pennington, he retired in 1982.
   He was active in the St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, Pennington, serving as a lay leader and chalice bearer. He also attended St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Bridgeton. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the KA Fraternity.
   Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Gary DeBoeser of Port Norris; granddaughter Clarice Hanna of San Diego, Calif.; a cousin Barbara Moffitt of Crested Butte, Colo., and Scottsdale, Ariz.; niece Jane Benson Pond of Philadelphia, Pa.; nephew Douglas Benson of Tarrytown, N.Y.; grand-nephew Timothy Benson of St. Louis, Mo.; grand-niece Christine Benson Hazel of Andover, Mass.; and other nieces and nephews.
   Funeral services were held at the Hoffman Funeral Homes, Port Norris, on Tuesday with the Revs. Douglas Reans, Albert Walton, and Jack Belmont officiating.
   Interment was in Haleyville Cemetery.
   Memorial donations may be made to the Cumberland County SPCA, 1244 N. Delsea Drive, Vineland, 08360, in memory of his dogs, Rusty, a fox terrier, and Sugar, an American pit bull terrier.
