Princeton Borough
Jack Eelman, 23, of Princeton, was charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing at 1:08 a.m. on Nov. 22 following a pedestrian stop on Nassau Street at Vandeventer Avenue, police said. Mr. Eelman was arrested after he was observed acting in an aggressive and tumultuous manner, police said. He was transported to police headquarters, processed and transported to the Helene Fuld Crisis Center to be evaluated.
Otoniel Merino Ramirez, 28, of Philadelphia was charged with hindering apprehension at 12:17 a.m. on Nov. 22 after he gave a false name and date of birth to police officers following a motor vehicle stop on Hamilton Avenue, police said. He was transported to police headquarters, processed and released.
Jonathan Williams, 24, of Lawrence, and Anthony Cannuli, 33, of Hamilton, were charged with theft, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of controlled, dangerous substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of hypodermic syringes and possession of burglar tools at 1:50 p.m. on Nov. 21 following a pedestrian stop on Alexander Street near Dickinson Street for suspected criminal activity, police said.
A subsequent investigation revealed that Mr. Williams and Mr. Cannuli were stealing brass fire sprinkler caps — which can be sold to scrap yards for cash — throughout Princeton and the Princeton University campus, police said. The men were found to be in possession of 28 brass sprinkler caps, police said. Both were also found to be in possession of knives, police said. Both were transported to police headquarters, processed and eventually released with complaint summonses.
West Windsor
A North Brunswick resident was the victim of a theft Sunday when someone stole credit cards from the victim’s wallet in the café area of the Barnes and Noble store at Princeton MarketFair, sometime between 1 and 4 p.m. The wallet had been stolen at the café cashier area or from the victim’s table.
A resident of Plainsboro had the driver’s-side window of his 2007 BMW and a Valentine One radar detector valued at $400 stolen from the vehicle, while it was parked at the Princeton Junction train station Monday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
A New Hope, Pa., resident was the victim of a theft Monday at the Whole Foods Market on Route 1 Sunday, sometime between 7:20 and 8 p.m. Someone stole the victim’s wallet and $300 in cash while she was dining at the establishment.
An employee of the Villeroy Boch store at Princeton MarketFair was the victim of a theft Monday, between 9:30 a.m. and noon, when someone entered an unlocked office in the rear of the store and stole the victim’s wallet from her pocketbook. She was later contacted by Bank of America, who told her that her Visa card had been used at a gas station in Philadelphia.
Someone smashed the passenger’s-side window of a 2000 Porsche and stole a radar detector valued at $600, while the car was parked at the Station Drive pay lot at the Princeton Junction train station Monday between 8:30 a.m. and 8 p.m.
A Skillman resident whose 2005 GMC pickup was parked at the Princeton Junction train station was the victim of a theft and criminal mischief on Monday. Someone broke into the driver’s-side window and stole a TomTom GPS unit valued at $200, sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. The car had been parked in the Vaughn Drive gravel lot.
A Belleville resident’s 2007 Chevy Blazer was broken into while it was parked at the Princeton MarketFair Tuesday, between 12:20 and 1:30 p.m. Someone smashed the driver’s-side window and stole a Garmin GPS unit valued at $600, a Dell Laptop valued at $1,500 and an Apple iPod valued at $300.
Police charged Petra Malerova, 29, of Sicklerville with shoplifting after she allegedly concealed $98 worth of clothing and exited the Kohl’s department store at the Nassau Park Pavilion shopping center without paying, at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said they arrested Katherine Ryan, 18, of Robbinsville and Sebastian Santana, 20, of West Windsor after they found the two drinking alcohol in Ms. Ryan’s car, which was parked in the Windsor Plaza shopping center parking lot at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday. Ms. Ryan was charged with underage possession and consumption of alcohol, and also given a summons for having open containers of alcohol in a motor vehicle. Mr. Santana, was charged with underage possession and consumption.
Plainsboro
Police said someone stole $20,000 worth of copper and brass from a building under construction at 600 Forrestal Road between Tuesday and Wednesday. The case is under investigation.
Montgomery
A single car accident occurred on Route 601 at the Reading Curve at 9:30 p.m. Monday. Valentin Santan, 35, of New Brunswick was driving north when his car left the roadway and struck a tree, according to police. Mr. Santan was uninjured but his two passengers were transported to Robert Wood Johnson for minor injuries. His car was towed from the scene. No summonses were issued.
A two-car accident occurred on Route 206 on the Belle Mead bridge at 9:40 p.m. Monday. Dominic Muren, 26, of Princeton was driving north when he crossed into the southbound lane. Hs car struck one driven by Ellen Dorothy, 65, of Norfolk, Va., who was driving south, according to police. Mr. Muren’s car was towed from the scene and he was issued a summons for careless driving. No injuries were reported.
A single-car accident occurred on Cherry Valley Road at the intersection of Cherry Hill Road at 10:15 p.m. Monday. Kristen Latiner, 25, of Princeton had made a left turn from Cherry Hill Road onto Cherry Valley Road, when she lost control and left the roadway, according to police. She then struck the embankment. Ms. Latiner’s car was towed from the scene, but no injuries were reported. No summonses were issued.
Police, the Montgomery First Aid Squad and Fire Companies 1 and 2 responded to Orchard Road for a motor vehicle crash on midnight on Wednesday.
Yash Niphadkar, 18, of Montgomery who was a volunteer with Montgomery Emergency Medical Services was responding to a medical emergency in his personal vehicle when he lost control of the 2002 Honda CRV he was driving. The vehicle left the roadway, struck an embankment and a utility pole and then overturned several times, according to police. Mr. Niphadkar advised police that a deer entered the roadway causing him to lose control of his vehicle on the wet roadway.
He was driven by Montgomery First Aid Squad to University Medical Center at Princeton. Police investigation revealed that excessive speed was a contributing factor in the crash, police said. Mr. Niphadkar was issued a summons for careless driving and has been given a Montgomery Municipal Court date.
Edward Kimock Jr., 21, of Glen Gardner was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana during a motor vehicle stop on Wednesday. Mr. Kimnock was a passenger in a car stopped for motor vehicle violations on Route 206. Mr. Kimock was processed and released, pending a court date. The driver, Alex Sciarett, 20, of Lawrence was issued motor vehicle summonses for improper passing and driving while suspended.
A Hillsborough resident reported someone stole her $250 iPod from her son’s sweatshirt that was hanging in the visitors’ locker room at Montgomery High School during the Montgomery-Hillsborough football game on Thanksgiving Day.
A two-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of Route 206 and Route 518 that resulted in one of the vehicles being crushed at 3:22 p.m. Saturday. John J. Lonergan, 52, of Hackensack was driving a Mack cab, pulling a trailer loaded with heavy equipment. He was stopped at a red light, while a 2005 Lotus being driven by Wei Wang, 50, of East Brunswick was stopped in front of him.
When the light turned green, the cab moved forward and crushed the rear of the Lotus. Mr. Lonergan said he did not see the Lotus, because it was so small and low and thought it drove off in traffic, according to police. No injuries were reported, but the Lotus was towed from the scene. Mr. Lonergan received a summons for careless driving.
