How council welcomes Bostock will speak to how they listen

By John A. Heffern, Toftrees Court
In the aftermath of local election results, Mrs. Mount expressed surprise at her narrow victory. "I didn’t expect it to be this close," she lamented in your recent article. Mr. Powers admitted to being "caught off guard." Now they think there is need to "work harder and communicate with people."
There’s another message in the near loss they are calling a victory. They can " go to different neighborhoods" with yet another council meeting if they care to, but the voters are sending Mr. Bostock to join Mr. Miller in their neighborhood Jan. 1, 2008. How they welcome Mr. Bostock and his ideas to a council they still control will speak volumes for their ability to listen (not just "communicate") and give voters a chance to decide if we need further change a few short years from now.
