Police investigating Kendall Park incidents

South Brunswick police are investigating what appears to be two separate incidents of gunfire directed at random cars on Cambridge Road in Kendall Park on Saturday, authorities said.
The most recent incident occurred early Saturday morning, according to Detective Jim Ryan, spokesman for the South Brunswick Police.
The detective says that a Cambridge Road resident reported finding a bullet hole in the bumper of their vehicle Wednesday that police believe had been fired on Saturday.
Detective Ryan says that the police also received a call about gunshots being heard in the area on Monday, but have not been able to confirm the report.
The first incident occurred on Cambridge Road on Nov. 27. Police received a phone call at 12:50 a.m. from a resident who said that they heard gunshots. When officers responded they found no one in the area.
After questioning residents in the area, police determined that at least six homeowners heard the shots, Detective Ryan said. The residents reported hearing between two and seven shots, he said.
Police then received a phone call at 7:15 a.m. from a Cambridge Road resident, and another at 8:45 a.m. from a Kendall Road resident, reporting that they had each found a bullet hole in their vehicles.
A bullet was recovered from each vehicle, which police say came from a large caliber weapon, possibly a revolver.
Detective Ryan says that the bullets from the first incident appear to be a larger caliber then the one used in the incident occurring on Saturday morning.
According Detective Ryan further ballistics tests are being conducted at the State Police Lab that should determine what type of gun was used. He says that police hope to have the results within two-weeks.
According to police, there were no injuries related to the incident.
Police say that they think two individuals in a car driving by both locations committed the shooting. They believe the shooters’ targets were random cars.
According to Detective Ryan there were no similar incidents in the township this year.
He says public assistance in the investigation could provide the break police need.
”We are hoping that the people who did the shooting bragged about it or told somebody,” Detective Ryan said. “If someone who heard about this told us, even through an anonymous tip, it would be a big help.”
Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Detective Ryan at (732) 329-4646.
