MONROE — Three teens were charged Saturday in connection with a series of car break-ins in the Outcault section of Monroe.
Police arrested the teens — Steven Orozco, 19, of Iselin; Justin Hall, 18, of Carteret; and an unnamed 17-year-old from Monroe — after seeing their white Nissan driving slowly at 2 a.m. with its trunk open on Mayberry Road.
After a check of unlocked cars in the Outcault neighborhood, police discovered that several were entered and ransacked, police said.
Police obtained search warrants for Mr. Orozco’s house and car and a search recovered stolen property from previous burglaries, police said.
All three were charged with burglary, theft, possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools.
The juvenile was released to his parents. Mr. Hall posted $2,500 bail and Mr. Orozco was transferred to the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in lieu of $30,000 bail.
Police are asking Monroe residents who have been the victims of recent car burglaries to contact them at 732-521-0222, ext. 149, to set up appointments to review and claim evidence.
