OCEANSIDE, CALIF. Thomas Kent Taussig, 77, died Nov. 21 at his home.
Born in Ambler, Pa., he was a resident of East Windsor for many years.
Mr. Taussig graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School in Pittsburgh, Pa. and earned a bachelor’s of arts degree from W & J College, Washington, Pa. He served in the Army from 1956 through 1958 and was active in the Reserves, retiring as a captain in 1964.
He worked in purchasing and materials management of fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals for several companies in New Jersey and became a certified purchasing manager. He was director of purchasing for Seltzer Chemicals in Carlsbad, Calif. before retiring in 2001.
He volunteered with wife, Lyn, for Meals on Wheels. In addition he volunteered and served on various computer committees for his community of Oceana.
He was an avid reader and loved to travel the United States, especially the Civil War battlefields.
Mr. Taussig is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lyn Thayer Taussig; daughter and son-in-law Ann and Rick LaFever of East Windsor; son and daughter-in-law Wayne and Joanne Taussig; grandchildren Spencer Thomas and Katherine Victoria Taussig, also of East Windsor; sister Joan Lowell of Tucson, Ariz.; sister-in-law Louise Ludwig of East Liverpool, Ohio; and many nieces & nephews.
A celebration of his life is planned for 11 a.m. Feb. 16 at the First Presbyterian Church, 318 N. Main St., Hightstown.
