Princeton Township
Carl E. Moebis, 33, of Ringoes, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident 4:37 p.m. Saturday after police responded to the bicycle and walking path off Pretty Brook Road near Princeton Day School for a report of a vehicle driving on the path, police said.
Further reports stated that the vehicle crashed through barricades on the path, police said. Upon arrival, police discovered that the 1996 Subaru Legacy had crashed into a tree just off the path and that the driver, Mr. Moebis, was out of the car and speaking to witnesses, police said. After interviewing Mr. Moebis, an officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, according to the report. Further investigation revealed that Mr. Moebis’ vehicle almost struck two individuals while they were walking their dogs on the path, police said. Both individuals had to jump off the path to avoid being struck, police said.
Brian P. Flatley, 26, of Plainsboro was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident at 11:34 p.m. Saturday after police said they responded to the intersection of South Harrison Street and Hartley Avenue for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, officers were advised by Rebecca Montesdeoca, the driver of a 1999 Audi A6, that her vehicle was struck from behind by a 1994 Lexus sedan while she was stopped at a red traffic signal, police said. Ms. Montesdeoca reported that the driver of the Lexus fled the scene after the accident, police said. An alert to the surrounding police agencies resulted in the driver of the Lexus, Mr. Flatley, being stopped by Plainsboro police while traveling near Plainsboro Road, police said. Further investigation revealed that Mr. Flatley was intoxicated, police said.
Montgomery
A two-car accident occurred at the intersection of Route 206 and Harlingen Road at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 3. Darshan S. Grewal, 67, of West Windsor was driving south on Route 206 when a car traveling west on Harlingen Road entered the intersection, where a collision occurred, according to police. The second car, driven by Elaine Wynn, 50, of Franklin Park continued west on Dutchtown-Harlingen Road. Police said they caught up to Ms. Wynn at the Route 601 intersection, where her car had become disabled. There were no injuries reported and both cars were towed from the scene. Ms. Wynn was issued a summons for failure to yield the right of way and leaving the scene of an accident.
Police closed Sunset Road between Route 206 and Kildee Road at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 3. A utility pole snapped in half, causing the wires to hang too low over the road. Due to the high winds, police were concerned the pole would come completely down. The road remained closed until 11 p.m. Dec. 4.
A two-car accident occurred at the intersection of Route 601 and Dutchtown-Harlingen Road at 7:15 a.m. Dec. 4. Fredriek Jordan was southbound on Route 601 in a tandem dump truck when a car driven by Yan Zhang, 17, of Montgomery made a left turn from Dutchtown-Harlingen Road in front of Mr. Jordan’s truck, according to police. Mr. Jordan attempted to swerve around the car, but could not avoid colliding with the car. No injuries were reported and both vehicles were driven from the scene. Mr. Zhang was issued a summons to for failure to yield the right of way.
An accident occurred at the intersection of Griggstown Road and River Road at 7:22 a.m. Dec. 4. William Ricci, 40, was driving south on River Road, when a car driven by Susan Saunter of Bedminster entered the roadway, police said. Mr. Ricci swerved to avoid impact, crossed Griggstown Road onto the embankment and his car came to rest in the woods. Ms. Saunter’s vehicle was not struck by Mr. Ricci’s car, police said. Mr. Ricci’s car was towed from the scene. There were no reported injuries. Ms. Saunter was issued a summons for careless driving.
A motor vehicle stop on Cherry Valley Road led to the arrest of Hya Shuster, 20, of Montgomery for possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 4. He was released on his own recognizance pending a court date.
A Dutchtown-Harlingen Road resident reported that sometime during November a 100-year-old brass sundial valued at $300 was stolen from her yard.
A rear-end collision at the intersection of Route 206 and Montgomery Road about 2 p.m. Saturday resulted in one injury, police reported. Police said a 1998 GMC Jimmy driven by Belinda Rasweiler, 45, of Princeton was stopped in southbound traffic on Route 206, waiting to make a left turn when it was struck from behind by a 2007 Honda Civic driven by Carly Mayer of Montgomery. Ms. Rasweiler complained of head and neck pain and was taken to University Medical Center at Princeton. Ms. Mayer’s car was towed from the scene and she was charged with careless driving.
West Windsor
Police charged two people with shoplifting at Wegmans in the Nassau Park shopping center at 12:30 p.m. Sunday. Police said James Ferguson, 36, of Chesterfield and Colleen Coia, 34, of Langhorne, Pa., walked out of the store without paying for $224 in baby formula, baby cereal and other items. Ms. Coia was also charged with providing false reports to law enforcement after she lied about her name to police investigating the incident, according to the report.
Police arrested a North Brunswick juvenile at 7 p.m. Friday who concealed $176 worth of jewelry and attempted to leave the Kohl’s store in the Nassau Park shopping center without paying for the merchandise.
Police charged Stephanie Demetor, 27, of Milltown with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop at 12:30 a.m. Saturday on southbound Route 1 at Quakerbridge Road. Police said her car failed to maintain proper lane and was pulled over. She was also charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain a lane.
Plainsboro
Police charged three area men with alcohol-related charges following a traffic stop on Sayre Drive at 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Police responding to a disturbance call saw a 2007 Mercedez-Benz in the area of the call, and pulled the car over. An investigation led to the driver, Nikhil S. Pasumarti, 18, of Birch Drive, being charged with underage driving while intoxicated. The two passengers, West Windsor residents Rayyan Ahmed and Daring Kaul, both 19, were charged with underage consumption of alcohol.
Police said someone stole a Pheasant Hollow Drive resident’s clothing from the laundry room of the apartment complex between 11 p.m. Sunday and 1:30 a.m. Monday. The value of the clothing was estimated at $300.
