Art Forms gallery in Red Bank will be open only a few more weeks before it closes its doors on Monmouth Street Jan. 5. At that point, the gallery, which specializes in 21st century contemporary American art, will have a new address, online, at www.artformsgalleries.com.
Beginning Friday through Jan. 5, the gallery collection will be offered at a special price.
Gallery owner Charlotte Scherer announced in August that she’d decided to end the gallery’s run and transition Art Forms to a virtual gallery.
Scherer, an artist, has said she will continue to have shows but will use alternative spaces locally and in Woodstock where she maintains a home/studio and has operated a gallery since 2001.
According to Scherer, Art Forms is following the trend away from storefront gallery space to virtual galleries on the Web and important art shows and occasional shows at local venues.
Scherer mounted a series of four farewell shows, the most recent of which, “The Old & The New,” is a special collection representing old and new works by artist Jacquie Caldwell, which will run through Dec. 14 at the gallery at 16 Monmouth St.
Recognized for her rich landscapes, Caldwell is also known for her depictions of figures as well as her conceptual pieces.
Scherer is also hosting a final jewelry show featuring the finest jewelers to have shown their designs at Art Forms. Hours at Art Forms are Tuesday – Saturday, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday, noon – 5 p.m. For more information, call (732) 530-4330 or visit www.artformsgalleries.com.
