C
cutting and dedication ceremony
for the new Star and Barry Tobias
Ambulatory Campus on September 25
to celebrate the bright future of
community health.
The campus was named in honor of a
couple from Manalapan, with close ties
to CentraState, in gratitude for a gift of
$2.125 million from the Peter Jay Sharp
Foundation, the largest donation in
CentraState’s history.
Mr. Tobias is CFO and treasurer of The
Peter Jay Sharp Foundation. Officials
with The Peter Jay Sharp Foundation,
New York City, made an outright gift of
$1 million toward the construction of the
$48 million campus, and agreed to match
$25,000 of donations $25,000 or greater,
up to an additional $1.125 million.
According to Mr. Tobias, an important
focus of the Sharp Foundation’s mission
is promoting educational opportunities and
the general well-being of children.
"Star and I are equally committed to that
cause," he says. "We find the Ambulatory
Campus, with its emphasis on health and
wellness through innovative services such
as the Student Health Awareness Center, a
perfect fit."
The opening of the Star and Barry Tobias
Ambulatory Campus combines convenient
access to healthcare providers with all
the wellness and educational services
community residents need for a lifetime of
better health.
"A hospital’s role today is to provide
community residents with tools to
enhance their wellness and keep them
out of the hospital," says Jim Karaman,
assistant vice president of Ambulatory
Services for CentraState. "The new
campus creates a destination people
can use on a daily basis as part of a
healthy lifestyle."
