Lifecare community’s celebration highlights completion of $38 million expansion project
FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP —Legendary actress June Lockhart shared her personal and professional inspirations as keynote speaker at Applewood Estates’ preview inaugural tour. The celebration highlighted the completion of the not-for-profit lifecare community’s $38 million expansion and renovation project. In addition, The American Boychoir, based in Princeton, N.J., performed a concert featuring seasonal selections and classical works as part of the multigenerational program.
“The ‘new’ Applewood Estates is redefining lifecare and retirement living in New Jersey by balancing cultural, educational and intergenerational activities and amenities with a variety of health care services,” said Jay Solomon, vice president, Senior Services, CentraState Healthcare System. “We were honored to have Ms. Lockhart and The American Boychoir with us to mark this milestone.”
“We invited Ms. Lockhart to help celebrate with us because she personifies the typical Applewood Estates resident,” Solomon added. “She is active, accomplished in her profession, has a family and continues to rediscover former interests while exploring new pursuits.”
Applewood Estates recently marked the opening of its Promenade, a magnificent 20,000-square-foot wing featuring a new 250-seat performance center, where the gala event was held. The center incorporates high-tech acoustics and comfortable seating that is customized to accommodate intimate gatherings as well as large audiences.
The south wing includes a formal dining room, with cathedral ceilings and exposed beams; 75-foot indoor heated lap pool; and fully equipped fitness center with a juice bar and luxurious spa. Applewood Estates also features a library, game room, convenience shop, bank and business center.
“As the hub of continuous bustling activity, the Promenade continues to make quite an impression on residents and visitors alike,” said Gloria Zayanskosky, executive director, Applewood Estates. “From water aerobics and T’ai Chi sessions to art technique, computer and literature classes, the Applewood Estates lifestyle really does offer an opportunity for everyone to pursue their interests.”
Along with the Promenade, the expansion has added 20 upscale cottages and 50 apartments to the 240-existing apartment homes. The residence is designed for adults age 62 and older who enjoy an independent, active lifestyle and the guarantee of on-site healthcare.
“Applewood Estates was carefully designed to address the diverse lifestyle demands of today’s active seniors,” explained Heleyne Gladstein, director of marketing and sales. “Our new designer models are attracting a great deal of interest, especially now that the winter months are upon us.”
The Applewood Estates’ lifestyle features planned on-site and local activities; housekeeping and linen services; interior and exterior maintenance; individually controlled heat, air conditioning and electric service; fine dining in a formal or casual bistro setting; and ample on-site resident and visitor parking. Transportation services also are available.
