Edward A. Devlin

   Edward A. Devlin, 72, of Rotonda West, Fla., died at TideWell Hospice House in Englewood on Dec. 13.
   Born in Hopewell to the late John and Sarah Devlin, he was a resident of Hopewell for 65 years before retiring in 2000 and moving to Florida.
   He retired from the William Blanchard Company in Springfield, N.Y., with 10 years of service as a construction superintendent. Previously he had worked at the Princeton Medical Center in Princeton for 15 years and at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington for 15 years in the engineering departments.
   He was a fire control technician aboard the Battleship U.S.S. New Jersey during the Korean War. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956. He was a member of the U.S.S. New Jersey Veterans Association, the U.S. Navy Memorial Foundation, and was a past commander of the Hopewell Valley American Legion Post 339. He also was a long time member of the Hopewell Fire Department and the V.F.W.
   He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Suzanne Lowe Devlin; a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Jill Devlin of Cairo, Egypt; grandson, Sean Devlin; and a granddaughter Erin Devlin of Maryland; a sister, M. Kathleen Mathews of Skillman; brothers, Thomas of Hopewell, James of Easton, Pa.; numerous nieces and nephews; and a dachshund, Otto.
   Following a private cremation, interment will be at Bay Pines National Cemetery in Florida at the convenience of the family.
   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the TideWell Hospice and Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, Fla., 34238.
