Mr. Dyke, 88, of Manasquan, died Dec. 6, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., and had lived in Selma, Ala., Westchester, N.Y., Freehold and Henderson, N.C., before moving to Manasquan last week. Mr. Dyke was a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), Atlanta, and had been a member of the school’s football team. Prior to retiring in 1976, he was a sales representative for Texaco Oil Co., New York City, for more than 30 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during World War II. Mr. Dyke was predeceased by his wife, Martha, in 1981. Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Tom Nicholson of Goldsboro, N.C., and Lisa and Stephen Govel and Cynthia and Harvey Meldrum, all of Manasquan; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and longtime companion Gertrude Lunsford of Hendersonville, N.C. All services were private, with Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, in charge of arrangements.
