Rose Bencivenga

Mrs. Bencivenga, 98, of Freehold Township, died Dec. 5, 2007, at home. Born in Cisiano, Italy, she came to the United States when she was 16 years old and settled in Brooklyn, N.Y., where she lived before moving to Freehold Township 20 years ago. Mrs. Bencivenga was a seamstress with the International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union in Brooklyn. She was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, Surviving are a son, Joseph Bencivenga of Costa Rica; two daughters, Marie Nizza of Freehold Township and Josephine Addeo of Belmar; two sisters, Vincenza (Mary) Scandiffio of Belle Harbor, N.Y., and Antoinetta Osso of Long Island, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-stepgrandson. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment at St. John’s Cemetery, Middle Village, N.Y. Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, was in charge of arrangements.
