South Brunswick residents are reminded that there will be no garbage or recycling picked up on Christmas, Dec. 25 or on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1. All material will be picked up the day after, Wednesday, Dec. 26 and Wednesday, Jan. 2.
Christmas trees will be collected by the Public Works Department between Jan. 2 and Jan. 18. Trees must be free of adornment, bags and metal items, including stands, and should be placed at the curb of single-family residences. Residents living in multi-family developments should place trees next to the most convenient dumping enclosure.

The South Brunswick Commission on Women annually recognizes the efforts and contributions of women to the South Brunswick community. Recipients will be honored at the Women’s Leadership Conference on Saturday, Feb. 23 at South Brunswick High School, Ridge Road.
Nomination forms can be found at the library, municipal center lobby, senior center and the community center on New Road.

Winter Registration began for the Bright Starts, 45-minute parent/child and toddler programs, on Thursday, December 6.
Registration will be held at the South Brunswick Community Center in Woodlot Park, New Road, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will continue daily until classes are full. Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis and is open to all residents of South Brunswick. Non-residents may register two days before programs begin if there is available space. All classes will be held at the Community Center.
For in-person registration, you may register for your family and one other family. You may register for a maximum of two classes and must have registration form completed.

A display celebrating Kendall Park’s 50th anniversary is being prepared for the South Brunswick Public Library.
For the display, items such as sales brochures for the Nassau and Imperial houses are being sought.
Photos from the early days of Kendall Park are also accepted.
All original documents and photographs will be copied and then returned to their owners.

Tuesday’s Children, a non-profit organization that provides services and support to children who lost a parent in the Sept. 11 attacks, is seeking Princeton-area mentors for these children, one of whom is a South Brunswick resident.
The program pairs the children, ages 6 to 16, with specially trained adult role models who will support the children’s emotional and development needs, and help them build the confidence and skills they need to reach their potential.

The South Brunswick MOMS Club is a non-profit organization for mothers. In addition to providing support to mothers who choose to stay at home to raise their children, the club also participates in service projects.
Once a month, the club’s members meet to create blankets for children in need. The blankets can be sewn and crocheted, and are donated to Project Linus, which can be found at projectlinus.org.
Members of the club and their children will visit the senior center on the first Wednesday of the month. Children and seniors will interact with activities such as reading books, playing games and making crafts.
