Joan M. (Zeman) Barringer, 75, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, at home.
Born in Queens, N.Y., she lived there and then in Kendall Park for 12 years, moving to Clearbrook in 2003.
During a 25-year working career, she was a waitress at Bel Aire Diner in Astoria, N.Y., for 20 years, and started her own card and gift shop, Not Just Cards in Astoria, from which she retired in 1991, after four years. She enjoyed traveling and the 20 years of vacations in Long Beach Island with her family, and her special joy was her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. She also loved dancing with her husband. Ms. Barringer was a member of St. Augustine’s R.C. Church, Kendall Park.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, George L.; a son, George K. and his wife, Anne. of Kendall Park; a daughter, Barbara A. Pollini and her husband, Peter, of Manalapan; four granddaughters, Nicole, Lisa, Amanda and Rebecca; and four great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Jake, Emma and Ava.
Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m. today (Friday), Dec. 21, at M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, 205 Rhode Hall Road, Monroe. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine’s R.C. Church, Kendall Park. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick.
