Police get OK for DWI checkpoints

The Borough Council unanimously approved a resolution to support “Over the Limit Under Arrest 2007 Year End Crackdown,” a program sponsored by the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety to combat impaired driving.
The purpose of the program, which will last until Jan. 2, is to increase enforcement by adding random checkpoints where police will check for drivers who are under the influence of alcohol, and arrest, on the spot, those who are found to be impaired.
