Jan. 15 is last day to register for primary

Election in February this year

With New Jersey’s primary election date moving from June to February in 2008, the League of Women Voters of Hopewell Valley reminds residents that new deadlines apply to vote in the Feb. 5 election.
The last day to register for the primary is Jan. 15. Registration applications can be downloaded at www.njelections.org or picked up at the municipal government offices in Pennington, Hopewell Borough and Hopewell Township.
In New Jersey, voters must vote the political party of their affiliation in primary elections. Those who have never been affiliated with a specific party may vote in the primary for candidates of any political party. Thereafter, the party of the candidates they selected will be the party of the voter’s affiliation, unless they change it by filing a “Political Party Affiliation Declaration Form.”
The deadline to apply by mail for an absentee ballot is Jan. 29.
