Limani continues to knock over area girls’ competition

One of the best things about Bordentown’s Kim Limani is you can call her the best bowler in the Burlington County League without a second’s hesitation.
   Her numbers speak volumes.
”Kim (Limani) is averaging 203 in the Burlington County League,” said her Bordentown Regional High girls’ varsity bowling head coach Ron Jones, whose senior star led the league in average last year.
Limani’s most recent great performance was a 652 series (226,224, 202) in Bordentown’s 4-0 home win over Cinnaminson last Thursday evening at Papp’s Lanes. As a team Bordentown strung together games of 858, 822 and 843 to simply trounce Cinnaminson 2,523 to 1,845 in the total pin count.
Sophomore Chelsea Kohfeldt also had a remarkable day for Bordentown with a 517 series, which included games of 168, 183 and 166.
”She’s been fabulous,” said Jones of Kohfeldt. “She’s doing everything right. The difference between her and Kim is Kim is more consistent and has more strikes. Right now, Chelsea has a couple of open frames per game.”
Another terrific bowler, sophomore Brittany Havens, rolled a 184 game while junior Colleen McGonigal (a 175 high game) and Cathy Jones (a 171 high game) also bowled well before letting hard-working seniors Samantha Kelly (a 157 game) and Kate Sperling and junior Laura Sirak get in some varsity action.
”I told the girls if you get a 400 point lead after two games every one is coming out,” said Jones, who decided to leave Limani and Kohfeldt in because they were working on extra special series.
The Scotties have some decent Backups, but with the addition of Kohfeldt to the regular lineup, no one in the area has a starting five like Bordentown does.
Bordentown is 7-0 and it really hasn’t been challenged, although it did lose a game earlier in the season.
Bordentown is scheduled to play Medford Tech on the road when in it returns to action on January 3. Then Bordentown is scheduled to face Burlington Township on January 4. And the Scotties are also scheduled to compete in the huge Brick Memorial Tournament on January 5th.
   NBC GIRLS
Last Wednesday, led by its great senior bowler Lindsey Webster, the Northern Burlington County Regional High girls’ varsity bowling team defeated Pemberton 4-0.
Webster posted a 477 series and her high game was a 209. NBC (6-1-2) is scheduled to face Rancocas Valley on January 3.
   NBC BOYS
The secret to the Northern Burlington County Regional High boys’ varsity bowling team’s early success this season is it isn’t having any letdowns in its regular season matches.
Last Wednesday the Greyhounds beat Pemberton 3-1 as Justin Howarth came through with one of his finest performances of the season, a 578 series with a high game of 260.
While they did not do as well as would have liked in the holiday tournament, the Greyhounds have otherwise had at least one or two bowlers step up in each match and that’s how a team wins.
Ed Del Russo’s NBC club is enjoying its holiday break right now but it’s set to return to action with a match versus Rancocas Valley on January 3.
   BRHS BOYS
The Bordentown Regional High boys’ varsity bowling team has shown signs of really coming to life in recent matches.
In last Thursday’s match versus Cinnaminson at Papp’s, Bordentown varsity head coach Ron Jones mixed and matched his guys to come away with a solid 4-0 win over the Pirates.
”Freshman Jeremy Schaeffer was the only one to bowl three games,” noted Jones. J.Schaeffer rolled a 494 series with a high game of 203.
Senior Dave Cruz rolled a pair of games with a 203 in his second game. Junior Ryan McDonald also posted a solid 198 score in his first game and senior Chris Schaeffer bowled a couple of games as well. But it was the kids who took over and iced it for the Scotties in the third game.
”In the third game I bowled four freshmen (J.Schaeffer, Travis Raynor, Matt Duncan and Sean Congelton) and a sophomore (Stephen Lubbers),” noted Jones. “Their total was an 896. I think it was our high for the year.”
Congelton, who has shown signs of brilliance before, rolled a 193. Duncan impressed Jones with his 202 game while Lubbers and Raynor each posted 149 games.
”Lubbers, Duncan and Raynor are becoming alley rats,” added Jones, who loves the dedication of his young bowlers. Senior Mark Brown was nursing a bad wrist and had to sit the match out.
Jones has shown in the past that he’ll go with the hot hand, so one has to bowl well to keep one’s spot in the lineup.
”They’re beginning to bowl better now,” said Jones, whose Scotties are now 2-4-1 and on the rise.
Bordentown is off until January 3 when it scheduled to take on Medford Tech at Medford Lanes. Then on January 4 Bordentown is scheduled at Burlington Township.
”We go back to school and our second match is against Township. Township is a good bowling team and their boys are the best in the league other than Ewing,” said Jones, who is always looking ahead in order to keep his bowling teams prepared.
