MANSFIELD — A Florence man was charged Saturday with stealing $65,000 worth of jewelry and camera equipment from a Garfield Court house he had access to over the course of 21 months, police said.
Police said an investigation was launched after a resident reported the thefts Dec. 5. An investigation led police to David K. Reeder, 41, of Roebling, police said. He was charged Dec. 22 at the police station with theft and criminal trespass for using a key that had been issued to the homeowner’s cleaning agency, police said.
Police said he was not an employee of the agency but was associated with an employee. No charges had been filed against the agency, police said. Police said items had been taken from the Garfield Court residence between March 2006 and this month. The items were sold at various pawn shops and jewelry stores in Trenton, police said.
Several items were recovered in Trenton, police said, though they did not specify which items were recovered. Mr. Reeder was charged and lodged in Burlington County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
