The name of a 45-year-old Manville woman who was killed Friday after being hit by a car on North Main Street has not been released by police.
The woman died from injuries sustained when a car struck her at 6:29 p.m., Manville police said.
The woman attempted to cross North Main Street at the Brooks Boulevard, and was struck by a southbound Chevrolet Suburban, according to Sgt. Jeffrey Petrone.
While investigation into the accident continues, Sgt. Petrone said it appeared that the woman stepped into the intersection while drivers on North Main Street had a green light.
The victim was transported to Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in New Brunswick, where she died from her injuries.
The driver was not injured.
No further information was available about the woman or the driver as of Wednesday.
Police called the Manville Rescue Squad, Somerset Medical Center’s Mobile Intensive Care Unit, the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, prosecutor’s office, and Collision Reconstruction Team to investigate the scene.
