Bob the Builder to Bob the Zoning Board member?

Iattended the Jan. 8 Edison Township Council meeting with about 25 other residents. The room was stunned and baffled as Mayor Choi’s handpicked council voted to appoint Robert Karabinchak to Edison’s most powerful land use board.

The reason this was such as surprise was because Mr. Karabinchak was labeled “Bob the Builder” by the Choi council during the last election. They even had a person dress up in a “Bob the Builder” costume and parade around, along with a full blown press conference exposing Rob’s close relationship with Edison developers, as well as the fact that Rob is a builder himself!

It seems to me that Mayor Choi, along with his council, should apologize to the Karabinchak family and the people of Edison for the apparent “election time” lie that may have cost Karabinchak his council seat! Or is it just business as usual? I mean, how could any politician talk so much about change and then embrace the problems of the past that they pointed out?

This pattern of going back on election promises is troubling, and typical of politics throughout N.J. This apparent deal reminds me of a line from the movie “Casino” when Robert DeNiro tells the slots manager after a questionable series of wins “you’re either stupid or you’re in on it!” One thing is clear, either Mayor Choi is stupid for putting Karabinchak on the board, or Choi is in on the deal.
