Anthony Anello died Saturday Jan. 12, at the University Medical Center at Princeton.
Born in New York City, he lived in Brooklyn, N.Y, for 35 years, moving to Concordia in 1984. He worked as a commercial artist and photo refinisher for over 30 years, lastly for Needleman-Waterman and Goetz in New York City, retiring in 1984.
He served in the Army infantry during World War II and received a Purple Heart for wounds received in the Rome-Arno and Naples-Foggia campaigns in Italy. He was a member of Nativity of Our Lord R.C. Church, Monroe.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bridget (Riccobono); a daughter, Arlene Scarlatti and her husband, Phillip, of Jackson; a son, Richard and his wife, Amy, of Melville, Long Island, N.Y.; a brother, Dante of Brooklyn; five grandchildren, Michael and Jacqueline Scarlatti and Alec, Erik and Keith Anello; and two great grandchildren, Ariel and Michael Jr.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Jan. 16, from M. David DeMarco Funeral Home,205 Rhode Hall Road, Monroe Township. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at Nativity of Our Lord R.C. Church, Monroe. Interment will be in the Brigadier Gen. Wm. C. Doyle N.J. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arnytown. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
